Safety
Here you can read about safety at our events. Safety is our absolute top priority, and something that we take very seriously. It is extremely important to us that participants at events arranged by the association feel safe, and we wholeheartedly believe that a safe event is the basis for being able to have fun and dare things that we would not have dared otherwise.
Lajv that have been affiliated with the association previously have had things like safety hosts, debrief, safety rooms, off-rooms and organizer consultation, and have worked with, among other things, Brave spaces and Slow escalation. These tools have worked well, according to both our evaluation and our participants, and we recommend everyone to review whether these might be worth using for multiple events.
More information about how each club handles its security work can be found in their separate information mailing to participants.
If you see on the registration list for an event that someone is registered with whom you feel uncomfortable from previous experiences, we would like you to contact us, so we can pass the question on to the event organizers. It is important to us that the organizers are aware if they have participants at our events who are not safe to move around.

Safety hosts
Many Heartless larp events have previously had vulnerable safety hosts. Safety hosts are people who are on site and who can be contacted during (and sometimes a week or so after) the larp to listen to emotional problems and mediate conflicts. Safety hosts are bound by confidentiality both to us in arr and to other participants.

Organizer consultation
At some of the longer games arranged within the association, we have the option of organizer consultation. This means that the players are given a specific time (it could be, for example, half an hour per day) where the organizers are available for questions and support if needed.

Debrief
We advocate debriefing as part of the on-site follow-up after the game. Debriefing is there to allow players to talk to each other, reflect on and process thoughts and feelings that come up. Our goal is that they will also contribute to a community where everyone who wants to has someone to talk to after the game.

Slow escalation och brave spaces
Many of the Heartless larps use slow escalation, a larp technique where we slowly escalate scenes that may be difficult for our fellow players to give them the opportunity to back out or use off-characters/meta techniques if the scene becomes too difficult for them to handle. In this way, we work with the larp philosophy of Brave spaces, where we give ourselves the opportunity to play out the scenes we want in the larp through trust in each other.

Safe room and off-room
At some of our previous large events we have had safe rooms and/or off-rooms. We recommend our organizers continue to plan for this, subject to physical space in the event area.
Safe room
A safe room is a spare bedroom that we can use to take matters that are carried out between participants and the safe host/between the safe host and organizers. If necessary, the safe room can be used if any participant needs to change rooms from the original assigned room.
Off-room
Off-rooms are the rooms we use where we can be out of character. It's a room where you can rest, talk about a plot with another player, or just breathe between heavier or more difficult scenes.
